Hi, I'm Cate!

Hi! I’m a 21-year-old senior at James Madison University, pursuing a degree in Digital Marketing with a minor in Sports Communication. I’m from Hockessin, Delaware, where I’ve lived my whole life. Growing up, I spent my summers in Ocean City, Maryland, which sparked my love for traveling and exploring new places.

When I decided to attend James Madison University during my senior year of high school, I was both nervous and excited. I came to college not knowing anyone, but I was ready to take on the adventure. During my freshman year, I joined Alpha Sigma Tau, where I met some of my forever friends. Sophomore year, I had the opportunity to live in the AST house, and I also made a life-changing decision to apply to study abroad.

I’ve always had a deep love for travel and experiencing new cultures. When I submitted my application to study in Nice, France, that was all I could think about. I’ll never forget the day I found out I was accepted, I was driving with my best friend, and we realized we were about to live out our dream of having a European summer. That summer, I learned so much about myself, gained complete independence while traveling to seven countries, and even managed to lose my phone in the process!

After that experience, I knew I wasn’t done exploring. That’s when I decided to apply for a Digital Marketing internship in Dublin, Ireland. Accepting that internship turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Moving to another country alone was scary at first, but the excitement and opportunity to grow outweighed everything. Over the summer, I was able to deepen my passion for digital marketing, have incredible experiences, and truly live life to the fullest.

Who would’ve thought that the decision I made at 18 would end up being one of the best choices of my life? James Madison University has given me the confidence, skills, and experiences that shaped who I am today, and for that, I couldn’t be more grateful.

Why Marketing & Sports Communication

My love for sports started when I was little. Growing up, every Sunday was Baltimore Ravens Sunday, and that tradition sparked a lifelong passion for football. Over time, I discovered my interest in marketing and how it connects people to the things they love. This semester, I’ve been able to bring those two passions together through my internship with JMU Athletics in their Fan Engagement department. It’s been an incredible experience to combine creativity, strategy, and community every game brings a new adventure and an opportunity to engage fans and make an impact.

My Travels

I’ve been fortunate to spend the summers of 2024 and 2025 in Europe an experience that has truly fulfilled many of my dreams. Traveling has opened my eyes to new cultures and perspectives, and I’m forever grateful for the opportunities I’ve had. Along the way, I’ve visited incredible places, met amazing people, and made unforgettable memories.
